  • Starting at 3 years old, child well visits should be scheduled once a year

For more information about age based developmental milestones, nutrition, and age specific learning topics we recommend you visit Healthy Children-Ages and Stages.

Hospitalization and Newborn Visits

If your child is a patient in our practice and requires hospitalization at Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center, our pediatricians will lead the medical team helping your child and will see your child during each day of their hospital stay, including the day of their birth. If requested, our pediatricians perform circumcisions on newborns. In most cases, this is done before your newborn leaves the hospital for the first time. We also directly admit patients seen in our clinic if hospitalization is necessary in order to bypass the emergency room.

Chronic Conditions

We will be your child's medical home. Your pediatrician will oversee your/his or her care along with any needed specialists or therapists. Our referral coordinator will help schedule your initial appointment as well as relay necessary notes, imaging, and labs to the specialist. She will also ensure all paperwork is complete so that you have no issues seeing a physician.

ADHD

Our pediatricians can diagnose and manage ADHD. A proper diagnosis requires several elements. We will ask a series of in-depth questions about symptoms and behavioral challenges. Additionally, the child’s parents and teachers will be asked to complete an ADHD test. One of our pediatricians will also perform a thorough medical exam to rule out other causes of symptoms. Please let your provider know if you would like your child to be evaluated for ADHD.
